Toronto, ON – August 3, 2011 – Ontario Place continues its 40th Anniversary Concert Series with three free concerts this coming weekend at the brand new Echo Beach outdoor concert venue.
On Friday August 5, Canadian indie-rockers Sloan will take the stage at 9:30 pm, with opening acts starting at 7:30 pm. The Juno Award-nominated quartet from Halifax recently performed sold-out shows at Toronto’s Mod Club and Sound Academy. They will perform songs from their recently released 10th studio album, The Double Cross.
Saturday August 6 will feature a double-bill performance. It begins at 4 pm with the Toronto Concert Orchestra, a full symphony orchestra of professional freelance musicians, performing Beethoven’s Symphony No 7. Then at 9 pm, 1980s new wave hit makers Platinum Blonde will perform their hits songs such as Doesn’t Really Matter and Crying Over You.
The concerts are in partnership with Live Nation and free to guests as they enjoy free admission to the grounds of Ontario Place throughout the summer, which is presented by CTV.
