Catch a wave of adrenaline-junkies spinning, flipping, tumbling, kick-flipping and much more on Ontario Place’s 40-foot rail construction
June 23, 2010 - Prepare to be blown away by the incredible abilities of the Extreme Wake Series’ wakeboarders and wakeskaters. Flying along the water these daredevils hit some gnarly tricks but there’s always the danger of a wipeout. Don’t miss this jaw-dropping show running July 3 & 4, July 10 & 11, July 24 & 25, August 14 & 15 and August 21 & 22!
In the Extreme Wake Series, wakeboarders and wakeskaters brave high speeds with ingenious skill while carrying out impressive tricks. Wakeboarders are attached to their board, while wakeskaters are not, giving them the freedom to perform wicked skate-tricks while flying across the water. Performers will be pulled by a combination of personal water crafts – such as jet skis – and winches, which are mechanical devices that hold a spool of rope and pull the rope in at riding speed. With performers alternating between these methods, the show features rapid action sequences with spins, flips and much more! Incredibly, not only are tricks performed on the surface of water and on Ontario Place’s specially-built 40-foot rail but they are also performed in the air!
Though wakeboarding and wakeskating are relatively new sports, they are the fastest growing water sports and were developed by individuals determined to fearlessly push the envelope. Wake competitors today include creative athletes with experiences in various sports, such as surfing, waterskiing, snowboarding and skateboarding. This makes wakeboarding and wakeskating more thrilling to watch and even more exciting to perform.
